A NOUN is a person, place, or thing.

• Examples of words that are nouns are: cat, dog, boy, girl, house

• We had to go to the store to buy food.

• The dog ran quickly home.

A VERB expresses action or activity.

• Examples of words that are verbs are: run, hop, jump, swing, swim

• Verbs can change to show past, present and future action.

• We threw the baseball to first base.

• Janna eats banana.

AN ADJECTIVE decribes a noun.

• Examples of words that are describe are: ugly, pretty, beautiful, excited, nice, mean, smooth, lumpy, blue

• The dancer wore a beautiful dress.

• Today was a sunny day.

• The meal we had last night was amazing.

• Teacher Ida has a blue car.
