Let us explore the vocabulary associated with subtraction. Example 43 - 3 = 40

  • Minuend - the starting point or the number that may be reduced

  • Subtrahend - the number subtracted or removed

  • Difference - the answer

  • minuend - amount that may be reduced is 340

  • subtrahend - amount removed or subtracted is 10

  • difference - the answer - is 330
