Required Faith for Relationship with God - Lesson 1

Aim of this lesson

To show that we need childlike faith to begin and continue our relationship with God.

Scriptural Truth

God takes the initiative to reach out to us. We need to respond with childlike faith. Abraham in faith obeyed God's call (Genesis 12: 1, 4 & 22: 2, 3). The Disciples in faith left their nets and followed Jesus (Mark 1: 18). Abraham and the Disciples developed a relationship based on trust and obedience.

If we do not trust someone, we cannot relate with that person and no relationship can be established. However, when there is mutual trust, then the both can progress in building their relationship with understanding and commitment. God on His part is trustworthy and He demands that we on our part have childlike faith in Him. Such a trust is essential to have relationship with God.

Childlike faith is NOT childish faith but one that is based on Scriptures. Though we begin with childlike faith, this faith must grow in understanding that comes from experience.
