Who is Steve Jobs?

Steve Jobs was a charismatic pioneer of the personal computer. With Steve Wozniak, Jobs founded Apple Inc. in 1976 and transformed the company into a world leader in communication through technology. Widely considered a genius, he oversaw the launch of such revolutionary products such as the iPod and the iPhone.

Where did Steve Jobs grow up?

Steve Jobs was born in California on February 24, 1955. His former parents gave him up for adoption when he really young and he was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs. One of Steve's hobbies growing up was working with electronics in his house garage with his dad. They would take apart electronics and then put them back together. Steve was a smart student and was easily bored with school. He met Steve Wozniak when he 13, he was also into electronics and the two students became friends.

Early life

After graduating high school he attended Reed college but found the classes boring so he began working for Atari (video game maker). He took a six month break and travelled to India then returned.

Apple computer

Jobs began talking with Wozniak and they were both very interested in the personal computer. Steve Wozniak eventually created a computer so Jobs decided to start a company and Wozniak agreed. In 1976 the company was founded and they named the first computer Apple 1. Steve Jobs was only 21.


They then started the second version which investors invested in and the company became popular in 1980.

in 1986, Jobs bought a movie company for $10 million. He changed the name of the company to Pixar. firstly the company sold 3D graphics software, but in the early 1990's they received aa offer from Disney to create a full film. Their first film was Toy Story which was a massive success. Pixar went on to make films such as Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc., cars and Up.

How has Steve Jobs influenced the future?

Jobs is credited with revolutionizing the computer industry by allowing the public to use technology and making machines smaller, cheaper and easy to use for customers. The for example iPhone was a fulfillment of many people's wishes for their phones — and it had a few features they didn't realize they wanted as well
