1812- War of 1812 begins--strengthens American patriotism

William Henry Harrison, governor of Indiana territroy signed tready that allowed him to purchase 3million acres of land
Tecumseh declared tready void because the Shawnee did not agree to the sell.
1811, Harrison's forces defeate the Shawnee
Canada welcomed Tecumseh and supported teh Shawnee

The War of 1812-
1812, President James Madison declared war on the British
Phase 1- Britian was still fighting France, so America was able to win victories and boost American confidence
by 1813, the British threat had dwindled in the Northwest.

Phase 2- 1814, British burned down the capital
then attacked Fort McHenry--
America defeated British troops invading from Canada
Jan, 8, 1815, the Tready of Ghent was signed and ended the war.
