Ways to ask questions in Spanish

  • to raise your voice at the end of the sentence

  • Add "¿no?" or "¿verdad?" at the end of a statement to ask for confirmation

  • Put the verb BEFORE the subject (¿Está María...?)

When using interrogatives (question words), you MUST put the verb BEFORE the subject

  • Correct example: ¿Cuándo va María a la fiesta? (When is María going to the party?)

  • Incorrect example, ¿Cuándo María va a la fiesta?

  • Correct example: ¿Por qué no va Ana a la escuela? (Why is Ana not going to school?)

  • Incorrect example: ¿Por qué Ana no va a la escuela?

  • Example: Tomás come carne. (Tomás eats meat) -> ¿Come Tomás carne?
