Can I plan effectively to entertain?
This week we are going to be learning about calligrams.
Calligrams are a type of poem which are written in the shape of the topic you are writing about.
People write calligrams because they are fun for people to read.

What are calligrams?
Calligrams are shape poems.
We write words or phrases around the shape we have chosen.
Our words or phrases must be about the shape we have drawn.
We can write our words big, small, forwards, backwards, in capital letters or small letters.

We write calligrams to entertain other people, so we need to use effective words that will be fun and interesting for people to read.
We can make effective word choices by using interesting adjectives, alliteration and verbs to describe what is happening.
