  • Calligrams are a type of poem which are written in the shape of the topic you are writing about.

  • People write calligrams because they are fun for people to read.

  • Calligrams are shape poems.

  • We write words or phrases around the shape we have chosen.

  • Our words or phrases must be about the shape we have drawn.

  • We can write our words big, small, forwards, backwards, in capital letters or small letters.

  • We write calligrams to entertain other people, so we need to use effective words that will be fun and interesting for people to read.

  • We can make effective word choices by using interesting adjectives, alliteration and verbs to describe what is happening.
