2

What is an adjective?

An adjective is a word that describes a noun.

Examples:

I have a cute, small, black dog.

3

But sometimes, the adjectives that exist are not enough.

So... we use VERBS and turn them into adjectives.

4

We can add to verbs two suffixes:

  • VERB + ED

  • VERB + ING

5

VERB + ED

  • When we use a verb with ED as adjective, we'll use it as a feeling.

  • Examples:

  • excite = excited

  • I feel excited about the concert.

  • relax = relaxed

  • Susan felt so relaxed in Atitlan.

  • terrify = terrified

12

VERBS WITH -ING

  • When we use verbs with -ING, we will describe objects, animals and places.

  • People can be described with verbs with -ING, but it is only when this person PRODUCES the description.
