We use wish+ person / thing + would to talk about:

• things we want to happen  

• things we want to stop happening because they annoy us

For example:

• I wish cyclists wouldn't cycle on the pavement! 

• I wish the bus would come. I'm freezing. 

BUT

• You can't use wish+ would for a wish about yourself

• e.g. NOT I wish I would ...
