Group 1: The cost of water.
Group 2: Unsafe water
Group 3: Charities and water
5
The cost of water
It costs lots of money to build dams, reservoirs, water towers, and all water mains.
The cost of cleaning and purifying water that comes from the tap also has to be paid for.
6
Unsafe water
In poorer countries, many people do not have enough money to pay for clean water.
Some people have to take their water from polluted wells, streams, and water holes.
Few homes have a safe toilet. Frequently people have to use an open pit or a bucket that may overflow into the local well, river or stream
7
Charities and water
Many charities are working in poorer countries to try to provide clean water and safe toilets.
Some examples are:
1. Save the children.
2. Oxfam
3. Christian aid
4. water aid

Charities are
1. Drilling wells deep into the ground where water is safe and clean. These new wells are lined with piping and covered so that water does not become polluted.
2.Building small dams and reservoirs.
3. building latrines in country areas.
