Adjectives
Adjectives always describe nouns (beings and objects).
See examples in the next slide.

If you noticed, all sentences have the verb "to be", in these sentences adjectives are at the end of the sentence. BUT

In case we use different verbs, like buy, have etc.

I have a brown dog.

The focus here is on "sense" verbs. Look at examples.

Adverbs are used to describe adjectives and actions. How can we recognize them? They have a typical ending: -LY.

How can we describe other adjectives?
These are adverbs: fairly, rather, very, extremely, dreadfully, slightly, reasonably, really

Remember: real + ly= really.
This situation is real.

How can we describe verbs?
He swims well. (How does he swim?)
She spoke softly. (How did she speak?)
He plays the flute beautifully. (How does he play the flute?)
REMEMBER: adverbs explain how the things are done, performed, our actions.
