Prepositional Phrases

• Modify a noun or pronoun by telling what kind or which one (also an adjective phrase)

• Modify a verb, adverb, or adjective by telling where, in what manner, or to what extent (also an adverb phrase)

• Always start with a preposition

Examples of Prepositional Phrases

• I am very energetic without drinking coffee or tea. (the adjective, energetic, is being modified)

• I walked carefully near the fragile house of cards. (the adverb, carefully, is being modified).
