Six Syllable Types

  • Closed Syllable - one vowel, vowel is short, boxed in by a consonant

  • V-E syllable - vowel, consonant, silent e. The vowel is long and says it's name.

  • Open syllable - the syllable ends in a vowel. The vowel is long and says it's name.

  • Final Stable syllable - the syllable (and word) ends in consonant le. The e is silent.
