Matthew 13: 10 - 11
10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, why do you speak to them in parables? 11 He answered them saying, because it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given
How did Christ respond to them closet to him - His disciples?
He had a close relationship with them, told them things he told no one else, and comforted them when they were afraid

54 And when he had come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, in so much that they were astonished and said where did this man get this wisdom, and these mighty works? 55 is this not the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? 56 And his sisters, are they not with us? How then does this man have all these things? 57 And they were offended by him. But Jesus said unto them, a Prophet is not without honor, even in his own country, and own house. 58 And he did not do many works because of their unbelief.

He said that he did not do many miracles in front of them because of their lack of faith

Matthew 14: 15 - 21
15 And when it was evening, his disciples came to him and said this is a desert place, and it is late, send the multitude away so they can go into the village and get food. 16 But Jesus said to them they don't need to leave, give them food to eat. 17 And they said to him all we have is five loaves of bread and two fish. 18 He said bring them to me. 19 And he commanded the crowd to sit down on the grass, and he took the five loaves and two fish and looked to heaven. he blessed , and broke, and gave the loaves and fish to his disciples and they gave it to the crowd. 20 They all ate and were full with twelve baskets left over. 21 They all ate about 5000 men besides the women and children.
