How to use colors to describe clothing.

Colors are adjectives.

• Adjectives describe a noun.

• An example of how we use colors to describe clothing is: a red shirt.

In English the color adjective comes before the noun. (example: blue hat).

In Spanish the color adjective comes after the noun. (example: gorro azul).

In Spanish, the color adjective must agree with the noun.

This means that if the noun ends in an "o", the color adjective must end in an "o" as well. If the noun ends in an "a", the color adjective must end in an "a".

Colors that end in a letter "o" can be changed to an "a" ending if the noun ends in an a. Here are a list of the colors that can be changed: rojo, anaranjado, amarillo, morado, rosado, negro, blanco.

• rojo=roja

• anaranjado=anaranjada

• amarillo=amarilla

• morado=morada

• rosado=rosada

• negro=negra

• blanco=blanca

Some colors do not change. These colors are: verde, azul, café, gris. These colors do not end in an '"o".
