Powers are Exponential Expressions

What exactly are the parts of Powers?

It's like when you learned to multiply where you noted how many times you added a number now we note how many times we multiply a number

How to write it long hand?

• Examine the expression

• Determine what is the base (bottom number)

• Determine what the exponent is (floating number) This will be your reference number

• The base will be multiplied to itself as many times as the exponent says

• Find the number being multiplied to itself it will now become the base

• Count how many times the base is being multiplied (that will be the exponent)
