Just do your best, try all the problems, and be ready to discuss on Friday

Saying "I got confused so I just stopped and gave up" will not go over well. I want you to try it all the way through. You'll only get better with practice

Function Composition of Variables

• Work from the inside out

• Rather than solving for a number, you are replacing a variable with another function

• It sounds harder than it is, but it will look dumb, so be prepared for that

 $f\left(x\right)=2x-5$  and  $g\left(x\right)=x^2-6x$  

•  $f\left(g\left(x\right)\right)$  means in the function f(x) everywhere you see an x you will replace that with the entire function g(x)

•  $f\left(x^2-6x\right)=2\left(x^2-6x\right)-5$  

• Solve

•  $2x^2-12x-5$  

• so,  $f\left(g\left(x\right)\right)=2x^2-12x-5$
