The verb "to go" in Japanese, is ikimasu.


Ikimasu can mean "will go" or "go".

If a verb ends in masu, it means now or in the future.


In Japanese sentences, the verb is ALWAYS last.

  • Doko e ikimasu ka. = Where do you go?

  • place  e ikimasu. = I go/will go to  place

  • To make a sentence, fill in the blanks:

    umi e ikimasu = I will go to the beach.

  • mise e ikimasu = I go to the shop.

  • gakkou e ikimasu = I go to school.

Add people

  • We learned place  e ikimasu. To add a person, we put them at the beginning of the sentence followed by "wa"


    Person wa place  e ikimasu.

    Person goes/will go to  place.

  • Tom san wa eigakan e ikimasu. = Tom goes to the movies.

  • Okaasan wa mise e ikimasu. = Mum will go to the shop.
