Writing skills are an important part of communication. Good writing skills allow you to communicate your message with clarity and ease to a far larger audience than through face-to-face or telephone conversations.

Writing skills include all the knowledge and abilities related to expressing ideas through the written word. 

Tips

• In the title, give the main idea or opinion.

• Write about the important parts of the experience, not every detail.

• Organise your ideas into paragraphs.

• Write about the good and the bad.

Steps

• Brainstorm

• Write the introduction (Hook your reader, provide background)

• Present the thesis statement (the central argument you’re going to make)

• Write the main body, organized into paragraphs (this is where you make arguments supporting your thesis, provide evidence, and develop your ideas)

• Write the conclusion (Shows why your argument matters )

Revision

• Evaluate the overall organization

• Revise the content of each paragraph

• Proofread for language errors
