Here's a reminder of the question...
Here is a list of potential themes within the story. Choose one, and decide what you believe the author's thematic statement is for that theme. Provide at least one piece of text evidence to support your answer. That means, an answer worth a 3+ will have 1) A thematic statement written out 2) a quote to support it and 3) will be written in complete sentences.

Multiple Choice
I choose perseverance because its the one that matches with the story the most. My evidence is "Seems like there's chains on my feet every time i get this far". She is trying hard to get where she wants to go and shes old so it takes lots of strength.

Multiple Choice
I feel like the thematic statement would be to love somebody know matter how they are or acting show love and not hate towards others "Old Phoenix only gave a twitch to her face as if a fly were bothering her.
Are you deaf? cried the store worker. But then the nurse came in.Oh, that's just old Aunt Phoenix,'she said. She doesn't come for herself—she has a little grandson. She makes these trips just as regular as clockwork. She lives away back off the Old Natchez Trail.' She bent down. 'Well, Aunt Phoenix, why don't you just take a seat? We won't keep you standing after your long trip.' She pointed.
The old woman sat down, bolt upright in the chair
Now, how is the boy?' asked the nurse" and the nurse showed some love and wasn't hatful.

Open Ended
I believe that the author's thematic statement for the theme of the story is ''Family'' because in the text it said that ''Oh' that's just old Aunt Phoenix she said. She doesn't comes for herself- she has a little grandson''.
No matter what happens always be kind to some when because you never know what they are going through.

Open Ended
Family will alway be there for you. For example in the text it said,''My grandson! It was my memory had left me. There I sat and forgot why I made my long trip.''
