Perseverance Landing

Here is the process of landing something on Mars

In this new method the rover takes pictures as it lands. It compares them to our space images and makes corrections.

Then after it drops its heat shield

and loses its parachute

It detaches and (hopefully) is able to land safely

How about Ingenuity?

 Ingenuity will use four carbon-fiber blades spinning at 40 rotations per second

Can fly because of the lower gravity and an atmosphere that is just 1% as dense as our own.

 

The diminutive aircraft weighs only four pounds.

So what is Percy's mission?

Primary mission is to see if Mars was once home to microscopic life.

How will it search for life?

Well it will go along these ridges and take samples

Percy will use a drill bit to take samples from the ridges.

Those rocks get sealed inside special tubes

Then the crazy thing is...

It just leaves them on the ground!

In either 2026 or 2028, NASA will launch a Sample Retrieval Lander

and a rocket to come back to Earth!
