  • Every popular app has lots of different versions. Before an app is released to the end-user, it is given a version name. This version is called the

alpha version. This is when the app is nearly finished but is still being tested. It will still have lots of bugs. At this stage, only the app developers do the testing.

  • The next version is called the beta version. This is when an app is finished but still has a lot of bugs. At this stage, the developers give the app to other people to test.

  • release candidate (RC). This is when all the bugs are fixed and the end-user tests the app. Sometimes, in this version, there are still some bugs that must be fixed. This means there may be RC1 And RC2 versions as well.

  • When the end-user is happy and all the design requirements have been met, this release is called a stable release.

At this stage, the end-user uses the app like a finished product

  • there will be more versions after this as the developers add new features. These releases are only given numbers, for example, Version 1.4 or 1.5.

Different versions

  • Some apps have normal names, but some companies give their apps interesting names. Google’s Android OS for smartphones used the names of desserts for its different versions. These names started with the letters of the alphabet. The

Smartphone apps, like all software, are never perfect. There are always bugs to find and things that need updating as technology changes. Also, new features for apps are always being added to keep them exciting and popular. It is always a good idea to download the latest version of an app. This is because it will have the latest features. Any problems with the old version will be fixed
