The Seminoles lived in Florida and fought to stay on their land. A second Seminole War was fought to capture them and force them to the new Indian Territory. Some Seminoles were never captured and stayed on Florida.
The Cherokee tried to sue the government to keep their land and won their U.S. Supreme Court case, but President Jackson would not enforce the ruling. Thousands of Cherokees died on the trail to the Indian Territory. This became known as the Trail of Tears.
