Inverse Operations

  • Inverse Operations mean that you can use one Operation to check the other.

  • Example: 4 x 2 =8.. If I know this fact then I know that 8  ÷\div  2 = 4.

FACTORS

  • Factors are the numbers in a multiplication problem BEFORE the equal sign.

  • Example: 3 x 7 = 21

  • 3 and 7 are factors.

PRODUCT

  • Product is the answer to a multiplication problem.

  • Example: 3 x 7 = 21

  • 21 is the product.

Dividend, Divisor, Quotient

  • Dividend and Divisor are the numbers BEFORE the equal sign in a division problem.

  • Dividend is the number being divided.

  • Divisor is the number you're dividing by. Quotient is the ANSWER to a division problem.

  • Example: 85  ÷\div  5 = 17

  • 85 is the dividend.

  • 5 is the divisor.

  • 17 is the QUOTIENT.
