Respiration

How do we get air

media

2

Our body is made of cells. These cells need....

  • Nutrients, that we get from food

  • Oxygen, that we get from the air around us

3

They produce....

  • Residues, that have to be put out of the body.

  • Carbon Dioxide, that get out of the body through breathing.

4

How do we breath?

There are some phases....

5

Phase 1

Air enters the body through the mouth and nose.

media

6

Phase 2

Air goes down a tube called trachea.

media

7

Phase 3

The trachea is divided in two to go in each lung. These two divisions are called bronchi.

media

8

Phase 4

The bronchi get smaller and smaller. The smallest ones are called bronchioles.

media

9

Phase 5

At the end of the bronchioles, there are some bags called alveoli. These alveoli are surrounded by blood vessels.

media

10

Phase 6

In the alveoli is where the gas exchange happens: the blood gets oxygen (O2) from the alveoli and put carbon dioxide (CO2) into the alveoli.
