Why Teach For America?

• I was not an education major but I did have experience in education.

• I had no clue where to start in getting my teaching license.

• Social Justice.

• Provide opportunities for students to see a Latinx woman in education.

What do I teach?

• I teach 7th grade Spanish

• I also teach intervention/enrichment to a group of students

• Right now I'm teaching culture - afro-cubano culture to be exact through a study of Celia Cruz

Some of the highs

• We have worked through so much vocabulary so far and my students are showing OFF daily.

• We study language AND culture
