What is a pronoun?

• A pronoun is a word which takes the place of a noun.

• OR

• A word which is used to replace a naming word is known as a Pronoun.

• Examples of pronouns are- I, He, She, It, We, You, They.

TYPES OF PRONOUNS

Singular Pronouns- Pronouns which are used in place of one object or living being are known as Singular Pronouns. Some examples are- I, She, He, It.

Plural Pronouns- Pronouns which are used in place of many objects or living beings are known as Plural Pronouns. Some examples are- We, They.

'He', 'She', 'I', 'You', etc. are used for humans.

'It' is used for animals.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 'WE' AND 'THEY'

We- It is used when we speak about more than one person. It is used when the person speaking is included in the group.

They- It is used when we speak about more than one person/animal. It is used when the person speaking is not included in the group.
