An introduction to the verb "gustar"

In Spanish we use the verb "gustar" to talk about things we like and do not like.

If I want to say that I like something I say "Me gusta" or "Me gustan". If I want to say that I do not like something I put a "No" in front of "Me gusta" or "Me gustan"...that makes it "No me gusta" or "No me gustan".

Me gusta la manzana.

I like the apple.

No me gusta la banana.

I don't like the banana.

If the noun is plural, we use "gustan". (No me gustan las zanahorias).

I don't like the carrots.

Me gustan los zapatos.

I like the shoes.

We can use "gustar" with action words (verbs) too. (Me gusta cantar.)

I like to sing.

No me gusta dibujar.

I don't like to draw.
