How do people become citizens
People who are born in the United States are American citizens.
People who also become citizens through naturalization.
Naturalization is when a person becomes a citizen of another country.

How do I become Citizen?
First, they signed papers saying they wanted to be citizens of the United States.
Next, they took classes in English, American history, and citizenship.
Then, they took a test to show what they learned.
Last, they go to a special ceremony and pledged to be loyal citizens.

Rights and Responsibilities
Rights are the freedoms we have that are protected by our laws
Freedom of speech: means that citizen are free to say what they think.
Freedom of religion: means that citizens are free to worship as they choose.
United States citizens have the right to vote.

Responsible citizens
Responsible citizens also make contributions to make our country a better place to live.
One way citizens can make a positive contribution is by being a volunteer.
Another way we can help our community is to recycle.
