  • Colonialism: Where the leader of the land and people is from another country/nation.

  • Protectorate: Where the leader represents the culture of the country/nation but is influenced from another country/nation.

  • Sphere of Influence: An area of land of people who can only trade with a certain "owner" country. Basically a monopoly over a country's economy!

  • They provided more skilled labor and market to buy European manufactured goods since it was more economically developed than African countries.
