  • An exponent is a PRODUCT of identical factors that are written using a base and exponent

  • The base is the number that is being multiplied 

  • The exponent is the number that tells the number of times the base is being repeated in the multiplication sentence

  • We work in the order of PEMDAS

  • *MULTIPLICATION and DIVISION are of equal value, so we work from LEFT to RIGHT

  • *ADDITION and SUBTRACTION are of equal value, so we work from LEFT to RIGHT
