There are four kinds of sentences according to purpose or meaning.

Declarative Sentence
States fact, a wish, or intent and ends with a period. (.)
Example
There is no substitute to the joy of reading good books.

Interrogative Sentence
asks a questions and ends with a question mark. (?)
Example:
Are you ready for a new adventure?

Imperative Sentence
expresses a command, a request, or gives suggestions or directions and ends with a period (.), or question mark (?).
Example:
Have a one-of-a-kind adventure with them.

Exclamatory Sentence
expresses a strong or sudden emotion and ends with an exclamation point. (?)
Example:
I can't wait to know how this ends!
