  • Subtract Exponents

  • Example:

     (x5x3)= x53=x2\left(\frac{x^5}{x^3}\right)=\ x^{5-3}=x^2  

  • Ex:  (x10y7z3x2y4z2)=x(102)y(74)z(32)=x8y3z\left(\frac{x^{10}y^7z^3}{x^2y^4z^2}\right)=x^{\left(10-2\right)}y^{\left(7-4\right)}z^{\left(3-2\right)}=x^8y^3z  

  • Ex: (36c2d54c2d3)=(364)(c22)(d53)=9d2\left(\frac{36c^2d^5}{4c^2d^3}\right)=\left(\frac{36}{4}\right)\left(c^{2-2}\right)\left(d^{5-3}\right)=9d^2
