Elements of a literary text consist of story elements in the passage.
The setting is when or where the story takes place.
Characters are the people, animals, etc. in the story.
Plot is the sequence of events that make up a story.
The conflict is the problem(s) in the story.
The resolution is how the problem is resolved.

Setting: A farm on the Oklahoma Plains
Conflict: A dangerous dust storm has consumed the plains and Cora, her family are in danger and must find shelter to get through the storm.
Relationship: The Oklahoma plains are popular for having dust storms; therefore the setting shapes the conflict.
