Two main types of software:

• System Software

• Application Software

System Software

is a type of computer program that is designed to run a computer’s hardware and application programs.

Application Software

consists of programs that perform specific task for users, such as a word processing program, email program, or Web browser.

  and feedback to all learners

• Branching Tutorials - provides more sophisticated instructions that direct learners on their own personal path depending on how they respond to the question right or wrong.

Simulations

provides a controlled learning environment that replicates key elements of real-world environment.

Types of Simulations:

• Physical or Iterative - simulations that teach about something

• Procedural or Situational - simulations that teach how to do something

Drill-and Practice

is commonly used to reinforce mastery of specific skills.

Educational Games

are very popular among our students mainly because this type of software challenges and excites them. It's designed to emphasize competition and entertainment.

Exploratory Environment

is designed to provide manageable and responsive computer-based worlds for learners to explore and manipulate.

• Provides extended learning opportunities and practices
