Personal qualities that add to a healthy democracy. Examples - Individuals: obeying laws, serving on juries, paying taxes, males register for selective service and voting in elections.

Naturalization

Process that allows an immigrant to the US to become a legal citizen. Must be 18 years old, and have lived in the US for 5 years, or 3 years if they are married to a US citizen. Must pass a test on US Government and History, write and speak English, and take an oath promising allegiance to the US.
