Objectives

• To edit our Metro Map poems

• Participate in a peer review using proper critiquing guidelines

How do we revise our own poems?

• Step 1: Highlight your FAVORITE line. Why do you like it? Comment why you like it

• Step 2: Underline your LEAST FAVORITE line/the line you want to improve upon. Why don't you like it? Put a comment next to it

• Look for abstract language: love, hate, fear... replace those words with concrete language

• Implicit language that conveys the abstract language

Guidelines for critiquing a poem

• Compliment sandwich

• Strong point, point of improvement, strong point

• You are working with personal stories conveyed through poetry, be kind!!
