Strategy helps you when determining unknown words which leads to greater comprehension of the text

How do I use this strategy?
Read the sentence to yourself.
Think about the unknown/target word. Ask yourself, have I heard this word before?
Think about the other words in the sentence. Look for clues in the sentence that might hint at the meaning of the word.
Example:
