Why did Jesus go into the desert?

  • After Jesus was baptised , he began his mission . He went into the wild , wanting to be alone from anyone.

  • He wanted to be alone with his thoughts so he could truly get the meaning of God's mission.

  • Do you ever feel like you want to be alone to think to yourself? So no one can interrupt your thoughts.....

  • Jesus had spent 40 days and 40 nights alone with his thoughts in the desert.

  • However , he was not truly alone....

During Jesus' time in the desert , Satan ( the devil) was with Jesus.

He constantly tried to test Jesus and tempt him.

First test : stone to bread.

Jesus was very hungry in the desert. Satan came along and told him to turn a stone into bread if he truly was the Son of God.

Although Jesus wanted to eat , he knew that God would provide him with what he needed so he refused.

He passed the first test.

  • After the final attempt to tempt Jesus , the devil gave up and the angels came to look after Jesus.

  • From here, Jesus left the desert and heard that his cousin John the Baptist was arrested.

  • Jesus began his mission to gather his 12 apostles , spreading the good news of the Word of God.
