STARTER

Get learners to breathe on a window pane.

Talk about what they observe.

They should see tiny drops of liquid on the window pane.

Ask them where else they have seen water form on surfaces.

-The air you breathe out is warm. It contains water vapour.

-When the warm air touches a cooler surface like the mirror, it cools down. If the surface is cold enough, the water vapour gas changes to drops of liquid water.

-The process is called condensation. It is the reverse of evaporation.

Condensation happens because the particles of a gas lose energy when they get cooler. This makes them slow down and move closer together forming a liquid.
