How do you multiply fractions?
Multiplying fractions is a lot like multiplying fractions and whole numbers.
The only difference is we don't have to worry about changing a whole number to a fraction.
Follow the steps in the next slide to multiply fractions :)
3
Use these steps!
To multiply two fractions, follow these steps:
1. Multiply the numerators.
2. Multiply the denominators.
3. Simplify, if needed.
4
Let's try it!
For the problem 41×32 multiply the numerators together. Then multiply the denominators together.
Try this on your whiteboard!
5
6
After...
you multiply the numerators and denominators you should have gotten 122 .
Now the last step is to simplify!
Hint: Find the GCF (greatest common factor) of the numerator and denominator. Use the GCF to divide the top and bottom of 122
