Verbs are action words. They show what the subject does.

Progressive Verbs
The progressive form of a verb shows that an action is continuing to happen. It has two parts.
Example: He is tripping over a rock.

More Progressive Verbs
Verb tenses are used to show when an action took place. The tense can also show when an action will take place. The action of a verb can take place in the past, present, or future. A progressive tense is used to show a continuous or an ongoing action at a particular point in time. The progressive tenses are made with a form of be plus the –ing form of a verb (the present participle).
