Use of Present Perfect

  • We can use the present perfect to talk about experiences in our life.

  • We often use ‘never’ for negatives and ‘ever’ in questions.

  • e.g. My brother has met his favourite singer.

  • I have never seen an alien!

  • Have you ever climbed the Eiffel Tower?

Positive and negative forms of Present Perfect To form the Present Perfect use:



[Subject] + has/have + Past Participle of verb

e.g. Tom has been to London.

What means Past Participle?

To form Past Simple we add -ed at the end of regular verbs. e.g.: play - played; jump - jumped, cry - cried, etc.

For irregular verbs, we have special form.

Oh! Look! There is the third column.

So, to for the Past Participle of regular verbs, we have to add -ed at the end of the word. e.g.: play - played, stay - stayed, jump - jumped.

But irregular verbs have a special form, which is indicated in the third column.
