What is a quadratic formula

• A quadratic formula is a formula that provides a solution to an quadratic equation

• A quadratic equation is an equation that can be rearranged in standard form as ax^2+bx+c

How to find your A,B,C

• A usually has the X term and and exponent

• B usually just has an x term

• C has no x term and no exponent

Solving Quadratic equations

*remember the standard form is always equal to 0!!!

EX: -2x^2+9x-29=-6

-since -29 and -6 are the same term turn the -6 into a positive 6 and add

- -2 is your A, 9 is your b, -23 is your C

-plug it in to the equation -(9)+ / (9)^2 -4(-2)(-23) over 2(-2)

- solve it -9+/-103 over -4

- -193 does not have a square root so leave it the way

- your answer is -9+/-103 over -4

Ex= -4z^2+13z-3=0

• A= -4 B= 13 C= -3

• -(13)+ /(13)^2 -4(-4)(-3) over 2(-4)

• -13+/121 over -8

• Square of 121 is 11

• -13+ 11/ -8 becomes 2/8, 24/8

• Answer: 1/4 or .25 And 3

EX. -y^2+8y-0

• Y is the number 1 so -1 is a, 8 is our B, and -0 is our

• So the equation is -(8)+/(8)^2 -4(-1)(-0) over 2(-1)

• Solve it -8+/64 over -2

• The square of 64 is 8 so the equation is -8+8 over -2 and -8-8 over -2

• After you simplify the answer is 0, 8
