When to add commas to a sentence?

• In a series - for example: a list: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

• After an introductory element - for example: On Monday evening, my family and I went to dinner at my favorite place.

• Before a conjunction- for example: I love to eat cake, but my husband prefers pie

When to add commas to a sentence?

• After a direct address- for example: a person's name. Good evening, Jack, I'm so glad you came.

• Before direct quotes- for example: According to the author, "100,000 species of animals exist."

• For dates, addresses, titles, and numbers- for example: 1315 Old Converse Road, Spartanburg, SC 20307

• Title: Mrs. Phillips, principal, is the greatest leader of Cannons.
