The Origin of Music

It is very difficult to determine the exact origin of music because there are no archaeological records that can help us determine the exact year or place it appeared. We think it is possible that music began with singing, clapping or beating different surfaces like drums. What we know is that about 60,000 to 30,000 years ago, humans experienced a sort of ‘cultural explosion’ and started creating art by painting on cave walls, creating jewelry and ornaments, and by burying their dead ceremonially. It might be that when these intentional forms of art appeared, music may have appeared too.
