Food Experiences
Mike: Hi, John. How was your trip to the Amazon region? I saw your photos on your social network pages.
John: Hi, Mike. Yes, I went there with my whole family, except for my brother. He had to work that week. Anyway. Did you see the picture with the food?
Mike: Yeah, what was that? It looked like worms.
John: They’re chontacuros. It’s a traditional dish from the Amazon region. I’ve never eaten them before, but I liked it a lot. I think it’s important to try out local dishes; they’re part of our cultural identity.
Mike: I agree. When I was in Chinchipe I ate ants. I didn’t want to try them, but I loved that dish.

John: So did I. I ate those ants last year. To be honest, I prefer chontacuros, they taste like chicken, but ants are insects.
Mike: As you said, they’re part of our identity. I guess they are crunchy and delicious.
John: I disagree with you, my friend. (laughs)
Mike: You know, there’s one dish I haven’t tried yet. It’s cuy.
John: Neither have I. Hey, next week we’re going to travel to Cuenca, and we can try that dish. I´ll pay for it.
Mike: Sounds great to me. Thank you.

Experiences and Anecdotes
People have a lot of experiences and anecdotes to share when they are with friends and family. Some of them are positive, others are negative. There are some stories that we remember and like to share because they are funny, or even scary. Nowadays with technology, people can share stories right after they happen, even if they are on a a trip. All these stories have something in common, they cause people to have different feelings. The important thing about both bad and good experiences, is that they leave a message, and provide an opportunity to learn a lesson for life.
