Journal Sketch
If you look closely at the tip of a sharpened pencil, you will see that it is made of graphite. Going deeper, graphite is made of carbon atoms. Deeper still, each carbon atom is made of protons, neutrons, and electrons.
In this sketch, you will illustrate and these subatomic particles and their charges.
4
Draw a model of a Carbon atom and its charge
Your model should show: Electrons, Protons, Neutrons, and Charge
Annotate the sketch, including labels and statements that describe what a viewer is seeing.
Put this in your Journal Sketchbook, be prepared to discuss in groups.
5
Class Lab Options
Work collaboratively in a student led breakout room.
Receive extra help from Karen (small group).
Move quickly through the lab and additional enrichment with Barbara
6
Scientist Spotlight
Lise Meitner's work in nuclear physics led to the discovery of nuclear fission - where atomic nuclei split in two.
