Problems and solutions for our world April 7th

Today we have been learning about problems that have been happening in our world today.

Trash is a BIG deal.

Did you know that there is so trash that there are even places in the oceans that you can find mounds of trash?

This is called the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.

There are 1.8 TRILLION pieces of trash in this swirling area. It is the size of four Californias.

Another problem that humans have created is light pollution.

Light pollution is where there are too many lights, that it affects different animals' ability to see things at night and their ability to hunt animals.

This is the difference between light pollution on the left, and no light pollution on the right.

Both are taken in the same area in Canada.

Another problem that we as humans have caused is deforestation.

Deforestation is when too many forests are cut down, leading to animals not having enough habitats to live in.

There are lots of problems in the world, but what can we do about it?

Some things that you can do:

• Learn about the different problems from scientists

• Watch videos about people who are working on solutions

• Talk to people about the problems of our world

• Write letters to people who can change laws

• Do what you can to help!
