Coming to North America

European Explorers

• European explorers came to North America looking for trade routes to Asia

• They traveled across the Atlantic Ocean.

Early Colonists

• An immigrant is someone who leaves their country to go live somewhere else

Native Americans

• lived all over North America for thousands of years before Europeans came

European Settlements

• As the settlements grew, more homes and buildings were built.

• More services and shops were availabe as more people came to the settlements.

• Something things they traded were furs for metal tools and weapons.

Difficulties Europeans Faced

• Europeans had very little supplies and had to wait years for supplies from Europe

• The weather was harsh: very cold winters and many storms

• Many Europeans got sick from diseases
